PayPal Fee Calculator
A PayPal fee calculator works out the fee PayPal takes from a payment and how much you actually receive — or how much to charge to take home a target amount. It uses PayPal’s published domestic, international and currency-conversion rates, and runs entirely in your browser.
Numbers only — no currency symbol.

How it works
- 01
Pick your PayPal market
Choose where the money is being received. Each market uses PayPal’s own published percentage and fixed-fee figures.
- 02
Enter the amount
Type the amount you are sending, receiving, or aiming to take home. Switch between “fee on this amount” and “I need to receive this”.
- 03
Add the real-world conditions
Toggle international and currency conversion when they apply. The calculator shows each part of the fee separately, so nothing is hidden.
Results are estimates based on PayPal’s published standard rates for the selected market. Actual fees depend on your account type, product, negotiated rates and PayPal’s current terms.
Frequently asked questions
How much does PayPal take from a payment?
For a domestic commercial transaction in the United States, PayPal typically charges 3.49% of the transaction amount plus a fixed fee of US$0.49. In the United Kingdom the standard commercial rate is 2.9% plus £0.30. International payments and currency conversion add more on top — this calculator includes them.
How do I charge enough to receive a specific amount after fees?
Use the “I need to receive” mode. Enter the amount you want to take home and the calculator works backwards: gross = (net + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − total percentage), so the exact figure you should ask the payer for is shown as the result.
Are PayPal friends and family payments free?
Domestic friends-and-family payments funded by your PayPal balance or a linked bank account are free in markets such as the US. If they are funded by a card, or sent internationally, a fee applies — that is why the calculator asks how the payment is funded.
Why does my PayPal fee look higher than the percentage?
Two things add to the headline rate: the fixed per-transaction fee, and — for cross-border or converted payments — an international fee and PayPal’s currency-conversion spread. The breakdown on this page lists each component so you can see where the money goes.
Are these PayPal fees up to date?
The rates are read from PayPal’s official US and UK fee pages and were last verified on the date shown under the calculator. PayPal changes fees from time to time and rates vary by country and product, so always confirm against PayPal’s own fee page before relying on an exact figure.
Does this tool send my numbers anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. The amount, currency and options you choose never leave your device — there is no account, no upload and no server call.
